Chapter 1656: Drawing Power from the Era of Oblivion

During the activation of the fourth stage of the Radiant Divine Eyes, Fang Chen wondered if his mind was playing tricks on him, but he seemed to glimpse numerous vibrant worlds. With a thought, his vertical pupils reappeared. Instantly, Fang Chen found himself in a strange space. Countless celestial screens, each displaying bizarre scenes, surrounded him. One screen in particular caught his attention. While the other screens depicted scenes that were merely odd in their art style, this one showed something both familiar and alien to Fang Chen.A battle between two individuals was playing out within the screen, with countless people spectating. Their fighting style was brash and unembellished, almost entirely close combat. Every punch unleashed an incredibly terrifying Void Force!

Void force!

Not only could Fang Chen watch the battle, but he could even feel the aura of Void Force. Having spent time with Xing Jintuo, he was familiar with Void Force.

He spectated for a while before a wave of fatigue suddenly washed over him. Then, he was forcibly pulled out of the strange space, the surrounding scenery returning to normal.

Legends say that Grand World Immortals can draw power from Eras of Oblivion. So those celestial screens I saw must have been glimpses into many different Eras of Oblivion? Fang Chen mused with a thoughtful look in his eyes. He had wanted to keep watching, but his divine soul was exhausted in a short time. It was unbelievable.

Is it because I am not following the Grand World Immortal Path that using the Radiant Divine Eyes brings additional burden?

From what it looked like, the Radiant Divine Eyes seemed to be a divine ability of Grand World Immortals, making it similar to the Heavenly Immortal Descent of Heavenly Immortals. However, he had obtained the cultivation method for the Radiant Divine Eyes but was pursuing the Sword Immortal Path instead.

"A History Immortal will be able to see the fallen eras, but a History Immortal only records the rise and fall of these eras in their History Immortal Book."

To test whether the fourth stage of the Radiant Divine Eyes could draw power from Eras of Oblivion, Fang Chen began to experiment. Once his divine soul energy recovered slightly and the fatigue faded, he seemed to see a tiny opening in the void. A wisp of Void Force seeped out and entered his body.

Fang Chen immediately threw a punch, unleashing a considerable amount of Void Force!

Fang Chen recalled. Those celestial screens didn't just show eras where martial arts flourished...

After a moment, he let out a wry smile. It seemed the other Eras of Oblivion were much weaker than the last. Borrowing power from them would be meaningless. Only the Void Force could be said to be on par with immortal essence. It didn't have the life-extending effects of immortal essence, however.

"Never mind. Next time, I'll take a closer look. I didn't even get to see all the celestial screens just now," muttered Fang Chen.

He took out the bronze ghost mask and put it on. As the mask adhered tightly to his face, an inexplicable chill permeated his skin and surged into his brain. He was unsure if it was an illusion, but he vaguely saw a bronze gate appear before him.

Recalling what Xie Aman had said, Fang Chen stepped forward and gently pushed. The bronze gate immediately opened. Inside was a hazy green light that obscured everything.

When Fang Chen stepped into the green light, the view before him became clear. In front of him stood a grand architecture that resembled the Desolate Academy. Two extraordinary beasts, shimmering with metallic sheen, crouched on either side of the main gate.

"Xie Zhi?" murmured Fang Chen.

He walked toward the gate, but before he reached it, one of the Xie Zhi suddenly stood up and spoke in human tongue. "Name."

Fang Chen was silent for a few seconds before answering, "Eternity Heavenly Sage."

"Registered. Eternity Heavenly Sage, Soldier-rank Xie Zhi."

After speaking, the Xie Zhi crouched back down.

Soldier-rank Xie Zhi?There are ranks here?

It seemed Xie Zhi had been established far longer than he had imagined.

He stepped through the gate and immediately saw several others wearing the same bronze ghost masks as him approaching. They did not glance at Fang Chen, nor did they pause their conversation. Seeing this, Fang Chen took the initiative and cupped his fist. "Fellow colleagues, I've just arrived to report in. May I ask where my superior is?"

The group paused and glanced at Fang Chen's bronze ghost mask.

"Eternity Heavenly Sage?"

Fang Chen also noticed that their masks bore names. One was called "Carefree Scholar." Another was named "Lethal Sword." The third was "Ling Chen."

With a hint of suspicion in his tone, Carefree Scholar asked Fang Chen, "Your title is quite imposing. You wouldn't happen to be an eighth-transformation Ancient Immortal, would you?"

Lethal Sword shook his head and chimed in, "An eighth-transformation Ancient Immortal would not be sent here alone. He would have someone escorting him and wouldn't need to ask us for directions."

Ling Chen didn't speak, nor did he even look at Fang Chen much. He simply stood there and waited for the other two. Carefree Scholar pointed to a bustling building not far away and said, "That's the Battle Readiness Hall. All newcomers report there."

The three ignored Fang Chen and walked straight out of the main gate. Fang Chen watched as Carefree Scholar opened a bronze door, and the three entered together before vanishing.

Fang Chen withdrew his gaze and walked toward the building Carefree Scholar had indicated.

Senior Sister said it's best to act alone, but these three seem to be acquaintances in the outside world as well.

Along the way, he encountered many more individuals wearing bronze ghost masks. In this short span of time, he had seen close to a hundred.

It seems Senior Sister was not entirely truthful. There are probably many core disciples in the Enlightenment God Palace who are Xie Zhi.

Fang Chen made a quick calculation. If these Xie Zhi cultivators came from the various top sects of the Upper Three Realms, each force must have at least ten such cultivators.

As he walked, many masked figures glanced at him, their gazes lingering briefly. Fang Chen silently memorized their titles. Some of them were flamboyant, even more imposing than his own. For example, there was one called "Ten Thousand Ancient Heavenly Emperor." That fellow was a little short at around 1.5 meters tall and wore oversized robes, making it impossible to tell whether they were male or female.

Hmm, 1.5 meters...

Suddenly, Fang Chen paused and stared at the person thoughtfully for a moment.

Later, he arrived at the Battle Readiness Hall. A bronze puppet walked over and asked Fang Chen what he needed. Learning that Fang Chen was a newcomer reporting for duty, the bronze puppet led him to a secluded chamber within the hall.

The craftsmanship of this puppet is quite unique and different from common spiritual treasures. Its strength seems to be subtly at the level of a first-transformation immortal, Fang Chen thought.

He suppressed his thoughts and scanned the secluded chamber. In the center of the chamber was a large table. Behind it sat a figure, silently observing him.
